VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES SICK LEAVE FOR CASUAL WORKERS

“We saw the dire consequences in Victoria in the meat processing clusters where workers who were in casual work kept going back to work despite the fact that they had COVID-19 and that acted as an incubator for what fed into a larger wave of cases.”

“Casual workers don't get sick leave and that's about 600,000 workers in Victoria. It is about 30% of employees across Australia. So we are talking about a large proportion of the workforce.”
